Count calendar weeks and leftover days
Method and inputs
Choose a start date and an end date on or after it. The calculator counts elapsed calendar days, divides by seven, and shows complete weeks plus the remainder. It uses calendar dates rather than a timed interval, so the result does not depend on whether a daylight-saving day contains 23 or 25 hours.
Worked example
From 1 October 2026 to 18 October 2026 there are 17 elapsed days: 17 ÷ 7 gives two complete weeks and three remaining days. The same start and end date gives zero days. One week after 1 October is 8 October.
Limits and common mistakes
This is an elapsed interval: it does not count both endpoints as separate included days. A schedule that includes every date from 1 to 18 October contains 18 dates, while the elapsed difference is 17 days. Weekends and public holidays are included. For working weeks, you must apply your own working-day rules. Date order matters; an end date before the start is rejected.
Does this give an ISO week number?
No. Complete seven-day blocks in an interval are different from numbered calendar weeks. It also does not establish contractual deadlines, pregnancy dating or other rules that depend on a specific counting convention.
