Final Price

What This Discount Calculator Does

This tool shows you exactly how much you save and what the final price will be when an item is discounted by a certain percentage. It's handy when comparing sale prices while shopping.

How It Works

The amount saved is the original price multiplied by the discount percentage. The final price is the original price minus that saved amount. For example, an $80 item with a 25% discount saves you $20, bringing the final price to $60.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include sales tax?

No, this calculator works out the discount only. Add any applicable sales tax to the final price separately.

Can I use this for stacked discounts?

For a single discount, enter it directly. For two discounts applied one after another, calculate the first discount, then use the resulting price as the "original price" for the second discount.

How to check this result

Enter the original price and a discount percentage from 0 to 100.

Method and assumptions

The savings amount equals original price multiplied by the discount rate. The sale price is original price minus savings.

Before making a decision

Tax, delivery charges and coupon conditions may change the final checkout price.

Compare the final price, not just the percentage

Method and inputs

Savings = original price × discount ÷ 100. Sale price = original price − savings. Enter a discount between 0 and 100. The result does not add tax, shipping or membership charges.

Worked example

An 80 item with 25% off saves 20 and costs 60. If another 10% discount applies to that sale price, it saves 6 more and costs 54. The combined saving is 32.5%, not 35%.

Limits and common mistakes

Sequential discounts multiply the remaining price fractions. Compare final checkout totals when shops use different starting prices or delivery charges. Confirm whether tax is calculated before or after a discount under the seller’s rules.

How do I find the original price?

Divide the discounted price by 1 − discount/100. A final price of 60 after 25% off gives 60 ÷ 0.75 = 80. A 100% discount cannot be reversed this way.
