Plan fuel for the whole route
Method and inputs
Enter the distance in kilometres, consumption in litres per 100 kilometres, and price per litre. Litres needed = distance × consumption ÷ 100. Total fuel cost = litres × price. Divide that cost by a positive whole number of people for an equal share. This is a fuel estimate rather than a complete travel budget.
Worked example
A 300 km trip at 7 L/100 km uses 300 × 7 ÷ 100 = 21 litres. At 1.50 per litre, fuel costs 31.50. Three people share 10.50 each. For a 300 km outbound journey with the same return route, enter 600 km to include both directions.
Limits and common mistakes
Use realistic average consumption for your vehicle and route. Congestion, hills, luggage, air conditioning and driving style may change consumption. This tool does not include tolls, parking, maintenance or accommodation, and it does not fetch current pump prices. Do not enter miles per gallon into the consumption field: the units are different. The displayed currency symbol does not convert currencies.
What if different parts of the journey use different prices?
Calculate each leg with its own distance, consumption and price, then add the costs. If different travellers pay unequal shares, allocate the total separately rather than using the equal split.
